Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Jesus is Lord!
Last weekend many of our Saint Mary School families participated in the A.O.H 14th Annual Polar Plunge. Through their hard work and wiliness to jump in the Atlantic Ocean in January, they raised over $45,000.00 for the School. I want to thank all the families for their dedication and support for Catholic education at Saint Mary School. Outstanding effort! Congratulation on a job well done!
It’s been said that Catholic schools are nothing short of a miracle. Studies and reports have consistently shown that Catholic schools do a better job of educating students as confirmed in one recent U.S. Department of Education study on Student Achievement. With our more than 60 year history of Saint Mary School we share in this success story. Since the opening of our school doors, parents have been making extraordinary sacrifices to send their children to our parish school. In doing so, it demonstrates to their children that education is a high priority.
As any parent can tell you, raising children today is a big responsibility with many challenges. One of these challenges is selecting the “right” school for their child. Parents today are constantly evaluating and re-evaluating their many options. When children are enrolled in Saint Mary School, they are enrolled into a family. Our students are welcomed into a loving, safe, caring Catholic environment where the entire community of parents, teachers, students, and parishioners are committed to the spiritual, academic and personal formation of each student.
I cannot emphasis enough how important Saint Mary School is to the mission of our parish. I want to invite and encourage parents with school age children to contact Saint Mary School principal, Mr. Craig Palmer to discuss the wonderful opportunities of a Saint Mary School education. Mr. Craig Palmer, who will arrange a personal tour of our campus and facilities for you and your child(ren).
This Friday, February 7th is the First Friday of the Month. The monthly Charismatic Healing Mass will be celebrated beginning with songs of praise and worship at 7:00 pm, followed by Holy Mass at 7:30 pm. It is amazing to see how powerfully the Lord is working at the Healing Masses. Many people are giving testimonies of healings that they have experienced at the Healing Mass. While it is “amazing” to hear these testimonies, it is confirmation of the Lord who said, “I am the God who heals.” (Exodus 15:26) Please invite your family and friends to join you at the Healing Mass this Friday.
Have a blessed week! In Jesus and Mary,
Father Jeff Kegley
Pastor of Saint Mary's
Ps. A few people have asked me, since they are single, can they come to the Valentine’s Dance. The answer is of course. There is a parish dance, everyone is invited. It is an evening of great fellowship, fun, music, dance and delicious food. I want to encourage all parishioners to join us, invite your friends and family to reserve a whole table. There also will be child care so our young moms and dads can enjoy a night out. It’s going to be a great night.
