Have you noticed more young families with their children attending Mass each week? I certainly have, and I could not be happier. I want to honor all our families, especially those with young children who may struggle with the little ones sitting through Mass. It is a joy for our parish community to have children with us each week at Holy Mass. Jesus said: "Let the children come to Me." Thank you, parents, for keeping the promises you made on the day you Baptized your children to raise them holy, to be their teachers and to be witnesses of the Faith. You are doing an amazing job!
I also want to honor our older parishioners who support and encourage our young families. Recently a young mom spoke to me after Mass struggling with two little ones who wanted her attention. An older parishioner interrupted and said to the mom: "You have a beautiful family. Thank you for bringing them to Church." The mom's face just lit up as she felt the older parishioner's love and affirmation. We are so blessed at Saint Mary's.
Speaking of children, Saint Mary School hosted a very successful Open House for the 2022-2023 school year. Saint Mary School is central to the mission of our parish and is available to every family. We are finding more and more families are rediscovering the importance of Catholic education, especially in these challenging and confusing times. We are blessed with many new families registering early and we are anticipating waiting lists for some grades. I want to make sure that all our parish families have a seat for their child in our next school year. So, parents, please call the school office and reserve your child's seat as soon as possible. Again, I cannot overemphasize the point that Saint Mary School is available to every family. See in this picture one of our second grade classes praying outside in front of the statue of our Blessed Mother. Look at their innocent faces. This is our mission in action. Parents, please call me with any questions or any way I can help you enroll your child in Saint Mary School.
Finally, it is with great joy that Saint Mary Parish and Saint Mary School announce our sponsorship of the Inaugural Saint Patrick's Day Parade and celebration of Middletown, to be held on Saturday, March 12th at 1 pm. The Saint Patrick's Day Parade will march along Leonardville Road and end on our Campus to continue the celebration. All parishioners, organizations, clubs, and vendors are invited to participate in the parade and the celebration. Please call Craig Palmer, the parade chairman at Saint Mary School, for more information. This will be the first ever Saint Patrick's Day parade in Middletown and a wonderful way to honor a revered Saint of the Church. Saint Patrick… pray for us!
