This weekend our parish bulletin has begun to be printed on glossy paper to look more like a magazine. The weekly bulletin includes not only information on the many upcoming events at our parish but reflects a parish that is alive and focused on advancing the Kingdom of God here in Middletown, New Jersey. It is my hope that with the upgrade of the parish bulletin, it will become a wonderful tool for our parishioners to share a copy with neighbors, family, and friends inviting them to come and see Saint Mary’s and be a part of our parish family. So, I encourage you, to never throw away an old bulletin – give it away. Share the good news of Saint Mary’s.
This past week Saint Mary School celebrated Catholic Schools Week. This annual celebration reminds us of the abundant blessings of Catholic schools and the greatest blessing of our children and their families. They are the reason our parish invests and works so hard to provide a school that is academically excellent and passionately Catholic. On the cover of the bulletin is a picture of one of our beautiful school families – Alex and Kathryn Abbud and their son James. Kathryn is also one of our outstanding second grade teachers at Saint Mary School. Like all our school families, the Abbuds know and value the importance of a Catholic school education for their children.
It is my sincere prayer that all our parish families take advantage of Saint Mary School. Our school operates from preschool to eighth grade and currently has over 500 students enrolled. As pastor, I want to “partner” with parents to ensure that every child has an opportunity to attend our parish school. Every parent wants the best for their child and every child in our parish deserves the best educational and spiritual opportunity that is offered at Saint Mary School.
Because of the snowstorm last week, the Open House at Saint Mary School had to be rescheduled to today from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. I would like to invite parents of preschool to eight grade students to attend the Saint Mary School Open House. If you cannot make it to the Open House, please contact our principal Mr. Craig Palmer at 732-671-0129 to discuss the amazing opportunity that is available for your child at Saint Mary School. Again, I want to “partner” with our parents to ensure all the children of the parish have an opportunity and blessing to experience Saint Mary School.
Next weekend the Church will celebrate World Marriage Sunday. I want to invite all married couples to attend Mass together next weekend. At all the Masses, there will be a special blessing for all married couples as we celebrate the Sacrament of Marriage.
Everyone is invited to the Saint Valentine’s Dinner Dance on Saturday, February 12th. This dance is for everyone, married or single to gather for an enjoyable evening to celebrate God’s Love. I hope you can join us.
