This is a very exciting week at Saint Mary’s! After not being able to gather because of the pandemic last year, every one is looking forward to the Saint Mary Great Fair. The enthusiasm and expectations are high! We anticipate thousands of people will be coming to our campus to enjoy the rides, food, fun, and fellowship. As someone said: “It’s not summer until the Saint Mary Great Fair!” This year marks the 77th year that our parish has hosted this event. 77 years! WOW! It is a great tradition not just for our parish, but all of Middletown.
If you look at how our parking lot is transformed into a “mini-Disneyland”, you have to realize and appreciate all the work of the Fair Committee and parishioners who are volunteering to make this event happen. It is no small task! I want to thank Hank Pekarsky, the Fair Committee, and the army of volunteers for your hard work and dedication. It is simply amazing! May the Lord bless you (and the Fair) abundantly this week.
There are still many great opportunities to be part of the Great Saint Mary Fair. The more volunteers the better! Call the parish office if you have some time this week to help out. You can be “part of the army of volunteers” by helping sell Super 50/50’s, working a booth or one of our many stands. Most importantly, call your friends and family and invite them to join you at the Fair. There is also a Facebook Event: “The Saint Mary Great Fair,” if you are on Facebook, look it up, “like” the event and when you attend the Fair, “check in” on Facebook. Social media is a great tool to invite people to the Fair.
One of the amazing surprises we experienced last year with having the Super 50/50 during the pandemic, was that it was slightly HIGHER than the total of the previous 2019 Fair Super 50/50 – it reached $75,240.00! That is because of the dedicated parishioners of Saint Mary’s who sold their books of Super 50/50’s to friends, families and co-workers. With all the excitement about the Fair this year, I can’t even guess how huge this jackpot will be. Super 50/50 tickets are available at the parish office and at the Fair all week.
This weekend our nation celebrates Father’s Day. All the Masses this weekend will be for the living and deceased Dad’s of Saint Mary Parish. Please join me in wishing all our Fathers a blessed and Happy Father’s Day.
