Liturgical Ministry
-
Lectors which means readers of Scripture other than the Gospel, proclaim the first and second readings during mass. When the Sacred Scriptures are read in the Church, God himself speaks to his people, and Christ, present in his word, proclaims the Gospel. They are an element of the greatest importance in the Liturgy, read and listened to reverently by everyone.
Committed to their faith and our parish, lectors complete a several step-process before becoming a liturgical minister. They lead a life of service to the church and grow more in their faith. If you are interested in becoming a lector at Saint Mary, Mother of God Church, please contact the Parish Office at 732-671-0071

Extraordinary Ministers
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist the Ordinary Ministers of Communion (clergy) at Mass in the distribution of The Body and Blood of Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament. The number of ministers allows us to be flexible with an individual's schedule for Sunday Mass. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are parishioners who upon recommendation of the pastor are mandated for a year or more by the Bishop to distribute the Holy Eucharist during Mass or at other designated times and places. The privilege of distributing the Eucharist applies only within our parish boundaries and is open to both lay women and men. To be an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, you must be at least 18 years old, and have received all the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
If you would like to become an Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, please contact the Parish Office at 732-671-0071.
Homebound Ministry
Saint Mary, Mother of God Church provides the Eucharist to those who are not able to attend mass due to illness or other unavoidable circumstances. The distribution of Eucharist to the sick and homebound is considered a special and distinct ministry over and above that of Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. To participicate in the Homebound ministry, please contact at Parish Office at 732-671-0071.
